There is no way to determine the maximum number of visitors your site can sustain. Each site is different and the amount of traffic you can handle will depend on the resources each visitor is using. However, 25 simultaneous connections should allow 300-400 users with minimal conflict. We do not have a limit to the number of visitors. However, there is a physical limit our network can handle. If you bring so many visitors that it crashes our shared server, we will recommend you to a dedicated server. if another user is causing high loads. We will suspend that person and restore the server to a normal load.

Our shared servers have dual Intel Xeon (Harpertown) 2.0 GHz Quad Core Processors. We run CentOS Enterprise Linux. The servers have 8 GB of RAM. The connection speed on our servers is 100 mbps (mega bits per second). We also have instant weekly backups of your content. Our data center is The Planet located in Dallas, Texas, USA. We have RAID10 on our shared servers

Ruby on Rails is an open-source web application framework. It aims to increase the speed and ease with which database-driven web sites can be created. RoR runs on Apache CGI.

You will need SSH access and follow the instructions in our support forum. Version information: Ruby Version : 1.8.6 Gem Version : 1.3.1 Rails Version : 2.3.2 (may need to request this update) Currently we have the following modules installed: actionmailer actionpack actionwebservice activerecord activesupport gnuplot mongrel mysql tidy xml-simple payment rake bluecloth feedtools htmltools subversion eRuby is not supported because Ruby runs as CGI on the shared servers. Additionally, eRuby requires mod_ruby to be installed, which we do not have. The above is a list of plugins (modules/gems) not actual executable programs. Some of these modules can be installed as programs, but only on dedicated servers, not on shared.

We update each program as soon as our server administration team approves it. Often updates are "buggy", and we want to be sure any updates we make will not cause problems for our clients.

Normally, we run PHP as CGI. Shared hosting cannot change this.

A socket is defined as one endpoint of a two-way communication link between two programs running on the network. A socket is bound to a port number so that the TCP layer can identify to which application the data is sent. You are not allowed to use or create new socket connections.

If you are connecting out, it should work. We do not allow clients to bind to local ports for incoming.

If you are concerned about your databases staying up-to-date, all you need to do is disable your databases so that they cannot update while we complete the transfer. We require up to 72 hours for all transfer requests. The time will depend on how large is your transfer.
Tips
After the transfer, you can create an A record to redirect all visitors to the new server; this way you do not need to worry about propagation of the new name servers. Now your visitors will all be directed to the new site and the new databases. Now the new databases will have all of your current information and can update. Also, after the site transfer, you can create a MX record so your emails will all be delivered to the new server and not need to wait for propagation.
